![]() USATODAY.com - 'Trust fund' is locked in filing cabinet Bush offered the filing cabinet as proof that "there is no trust fund — just IOUs. Anyone remember the last time a US president went and told the american people that US Treasury bonds aren't worth the paper they are printed on? Me neither. Unfortunately this president thinks everyone is rather stupid...and maybe you all are? I don't know, you tell me. Most of our economy is virtual folks. Billions of dollars change hands, all day, every day, and guess what? Very little of it is actual dollars touching actual hands. It's all on paper, all in computers, all IOUs. You yourself even do this. No really, you do. You go to work, and your pay gets direct deposited to your bank account. No one marched over to your bank with the amount of your pay in crisp green dollars and deposited it. You then use your ATM/check card to buy stuff, you use your credit cards, you pay some bills online, you use PayPal to buy some stuff on ebay. All of it virtual. Even your bank account is, in a way, just an IOU afterall. Yes, you could go get out all your money...but what do you think would happen if everyone went to get out all their money? I'm not saying that there isn't a potential problem with Social Security, and I'm not saying that nothing should be done...but, Mr. Bush, I am saying that what you did amounts to trashing the US Treasury on the world's stage, and in a way trashing the US. Those bonds are backed by "the full faith and credit of the United States of America" which I guess you evidently don't value too highly. Or else you value your Social Security reform agenda more. I don't know...you tell me. Posted at 9:53 AM |

![]() The Life Of Von Dutch, And who sold out his name? I'm guessing most folks by now have seen the "Von Dutch" brand strewn widely across pop culture lately. I gotta tell you all it makes me sick. You see there once was a man named Kenneth Howard, who went by the name Von Dutch. He is known to some as the father of modern pinstriping...but he was way more than that. He was a brilliant artist, who created right up to the very end, 1992 when he died. He detested commercialism in all its forms. To see his signature gracing the t-shirts, handbags, trucker's hats, and bluejeans of millions of dimwits who don't give a flying fuck where the name even came from really pisses me off. BAAAA BAAAAA...fucking style sheep. The above link goes to an article about the man, Von Dutch. Please enjoy...he was truly an amazing man. Too amazing to have his name on all this shit. I don't know who sold out his name (yet), but I hope they're happy...I'm sure not. Wanna read some total bullshit from the Von Dutch website? BTW - Dutch would have puked his guts out at words like "product placement", "licensing the Von Dutch name", and "lifestyle brand". ========================== As Owner/CEO of Von Dutch Originals, Tonny Sorensen is a true visionary. Sorensen’s unique approach to marketing has redefined the art of product placement for media, celebrities, movies and magazines. Under Sorensen’s leadership, Von Dutch Originals has become a leading American fashion label with a rock-and-roll attitude rooted in “Kustom Kulture.” After investing in the company in 2000, Sorensen rapidly grew the business. The company now creates t-shirts, hats, accessories and more for its lines of men and women’s products. In addition, Von Dutch Originals has successfully crossed over into a variety of other product offerings by licensing the Von Dutch name to a line of children’s wear, footwear, a jewelry line, a “kustom” motorcycle company, and even a die-cast miniatures toy line. Sorensen’s goal is to make Von Dutch Originals the premiere lifestyle brand, so more licensing opportunities are a certainty in the near future. Sorensen stresses authenticity to the Kustom Kulture tradition. This high-octane lifestyle embodies a gritty creativity, hip nostalgia and a reverence for the road. Kustom Kulture is an artistic celebration and exploration of America’s car and motorcycle underground that was popularized in 1950s-60s. The Danish-born Sorensen truly exemplifies the lifestyle that he has created at Von Dutch Originals. A Tae Kwon Do World Champion and action sports aficionado, Sorensen is just as comfortable on a high-powered sport bike or scaling Mt. Whitney as he is commanding a company board meeting. Sorensen subsequently owned the GLADSAXE dojo in Denmark, an elite school that produced several world champions. Upon moving to the United States in 1992, Sorensen explored his passion for film. He studied acting, screenwriting and filmmaking, and even co-produced a movie in 1998. ========================== BTW - the simple, plain, basic Von Dutch T-Shirt? That'll be $42 please. No, this is not an April fools joke. Posted at 4:07 PM |
