PBS - Puny Broadcasting Sycophants

By BEN FELLER, The Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- The nation's new education secretary denounced PBS on Tuesday for spending public money on a cartoon with lesbian characters, saying many parents would not want children exposed to such lifestyles.

The not-yet-aired episode of "Postcards From Buster" shows the title character, an animated bunny named Buster who is a character in the popular "Arthur" cartoon, on a trip to Vermont -- a state known for recognizing same-sex civil unions.

The episode featuring two lesbian couples focuses on farm life and maple sugaring.

A PBS spokesman said late Tuesday that the nonprofit network has decided not to distribute the episode "Sugartime!" to its 349 stations. She said the Education Department's objections were not a factor in that decision.

PBS, you just lost me. You lost my membership. Fuck you. Goodbye.

The 50 Most Loathsome People Of 2004

And look who made it to #3!

3. You

Crimes: You gaze idly at the carnage around you, sigh, and go calmly back to your coffee and your People magazine. You can’t stop buying useless crap, though you’re drowning in a deepening pool of debt. You think you’re an activist because you bitch all day on the internet, but you reelect the same gangsters at a 99% rate. You consider yourself informed because you waste a significant portion of your life watching the same three news stories cycle over and over again on your gargantuan, aerodynamic television set while you eat processed food. You really thought everything would be okay if Kerry won. Not only do you believe in an invisible man who magically farted out the universe, you also excoriate and marginalize those who disagree. You have a poorer understanding of your country’s foreign policy history than a third world peasant, but you can’t wait to see what Julia Roberts will be wearing at the Oscars. You cheer as Ukrainians challenge an election based on exit poll data, but keep waiting around for someone else to fix your problems. You can’t think, you can’t organize and you won’t act. This is all your fault.

Smoking Gun: You’re fat.

Punishment: You’re soaking in it.

Special thanks to Scarabic for pointing the way

ps - I still can't believe Ann Coulter only got #50

SPONGEBOB...GAY!!!!

The Times printed it!!! It must be important!!!

Please. Please please please. Do people, especially self righteous "moral leaders", have nothing better to do than to decide which cartoon characters are homosexual??? Does the media really have nothing better to do thatn to give them a voice to get this drivel out???

I mean, really, a sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea...gay?

People, you are at a crossroads. Keep your head up your ass, stay distracted the way they all need you to...or pull your head out and pay attention to the real issues. It's up to you.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." — H. L. Mencken

We are at war.
The deficit and debt continue to rise.
People around the world need our help.
And we are about to have the most expensive presidential inauguration ever staged.

It's so offensive I can't even find the words.

Firefox The IE Killer

I use it.
I love it.
Give it a try.
You have nothing to lose...except heaps of security flaws, endless pop-ups, assorted malware attacks, and other fun stuff like that.

"An elderly Cherokee was teaching his grandchildren about life...
He said to them, 'A fight is going on inside of me.' It is a terrible
fight, and it is between two wolves.

One wolf is evil---he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
competition, superiority, and ego.

The other is good--- he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity,
hunility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth,
compassion, patience and faith.

The same fight is going on inside every other person.

His grandchildren thought about this for a minute, then one child asked,
'which wolf will win, Grandfather?'

The old Cherokee replied softly, 'The one you feed.' "

Special thanks to Lisa for bringing this to my attention.

The Angry Man

by Phyllis McGinley

The other day I chanced to meet
An angry man upon the street -
A man of wrath, a man of war,
A man who truculently bore
Over his shoulder, like a lance,
A banner labeled "Tolerance".

And when I asked him why he strode
Thus scowling down the human road,
Scowling, he answered, "I am he
Who champions total liberty -
Intolerance being, ma'am, a state
No tolerant man can tolerate.

"When I meet rogues", he cried, "who choose
To cherish oppositional views,
Lady, like this, and in this manner,
I lay about me with my banner
Till they cry mercy, ma'am". His blows
Rained proudly on prospective foes.

Fearful, I turned and left him there
Still muttering, as he thrashed the air,
"Let the Intolerant beware!"
