Slothdog's Amazing Album Cover Finder Fed by Amazon.com, found via Virtual Turntable, which was found via Andyman's suggestion... Wow! Put in an artist and/or a title...get an album cover or covers. I, the vinyl LP collector said, "how about Blodwyn Pig...I know you'll choke on this" Well, I couldn't have been much wronger. (sic) I got quite a few covers...including ones I hadn't ever seen. Pretty neat! ps - that band, Blodwyn Pig, is pretty damned good. They'll actually prove to you that the soprano sax is a worthwhile instrument...and consequently make you wanna shove one up Kenny G's ass even more than you already do. Or is that just me? Okay...so here it is...the new geetar... a Yamaha Pacifica (PAC112J) - ![]() The Strat had a couple minor issues, and this was offered in its place, so I took the deal. The Fender was nice for what it was, but even I can feel the difference in quality. This is a remarkably nice instrument - follow the link in the previous post to the Harmony Central reviews on it. I'm pretty happy :) ps - no, that's not a picture of mine...I stole that shot from the Yamaha site Posted at 4:06 PM |

Wired 11.10: Extreme Case Mods For the uninitiated, a case mod is a computer case modification. Sometimes this means adding a fan that lights up, or cutting a window in the side and adding neon lights. Sometimes it means adding a coffee maker. credit where due - undying gratitude to Andyman Showerdonkey for (re)supplying me with this URL. :-D Posted at 5:04 PM |

Banner of Freedom Can anyone explain to me why America has such a problem with religious fundamentalism of every sort...except for our own home grown Christian fundamentalism? Oh yea...the Christian fundamantalists are in charge, and their bible tells them they are in the right. Sorry...I forgot. by the way - it says "banner of freedom" with a picture of President Bush. Are they actually saying that he is the one who bans freedoms? A banner of freedom. Posted at 2:53 PM |

Some of the best news I've heard in a while... Al Green has a new album out. First secular album from him since, I think, 1976. It came out today. It's all brand new material that sounds just like his next album would have, and should have, had it come out in '77 or '78. I've heard clips, and reviews, and all were stellar. I'll go get it tomorrow. :) Posted at 8:29 PM |

Oh no CTP, you didn't![]() Um, yea, I did :) I got a guitar. I never had a guitar. "But, CTP, what are all those guitar lookin' things you have around the house?" Those are bass guitars. This is a 6 string electric guitar...a Korean made Fender Squier II Stratocaster to be exact. "But, CTP, I remember seeing that in your house before" No sir/ma'am...what you saw was my Fender Jazz Bass Special, which is the very same color and Fenderish shape as this Strat. "But, CTP, I never knew you were intersted in playing guitar" Funny thing is, I never was until very recently. I started playing with music programs on the computer, and playing with WAV loops, and samples, and then guitar samples, and that proverbial 'one thing led to another', and I acquired this guitar. Squier II? Aren't those total pieces of shit? Those don't even carry the Fender name on the headstock, do they? Yea, it's a cheapo Korean made model, but after doing some reading it would seem this one was made before the Squier line got to be super junky cheapo...in my case it looks like it was made in the late 80s. It does have the Fender name on it too, btw. Here - read all about them - Harmony Central. Folks seem to have some pretty good things to say, overall, about this era of Squier II Strats. For a first guitar, it's pretty good. Anyway - I'm having fun with it. Might even take lessons one of these days...maybe. :) BTW - plug department - I bought it from world famous Real Guitars in San Francisco. Great guys, great store. Worth a visit even if you don't want or need a guitar. Go on in and they'll tell you drummer jokes. ![]() BTW2 - now Syd wants a guitar. I'm going to buy her a ukulele to start with...seriously. Knee Defender - protect against reclining seatbacks on airplanes For those who haven't heard of these yet, may I present knee defender...or in my case middle defender. These things, when slipped onto the airline seat in front of you, prevent that seat from reclining into your space [you call that "space?" lol] I say "middle defender", in my case, because I remember one flight I was reading a copy of Metropolis and being a tall magazine had it situated between my midriff and the seat in front of me (that's all the space there was). The person in that seat decided to recline all the way as fast as they could and suddenly I had the spine of the magazine clamped inextricably, and deeply, into my gut. I actually had to fold the spine of the mag in half to remove it...and it left me with an owie. :( These knee defenders seem to be creating quite the hoopla, with at least one carrier actually banning their use outright. Another battle of the personal rights. ps - the FAA says they're okay to use Posted at 1:40 PM |

Black & Decker Gizmo Cordless Grater: WTF Of The Day - Cordless Cheese Grater "Product Description: Does the recipe call for delicately shaved chocolate or freshly grated cheese? That's no problem with the Gizmo Cordless Grater by Black & Decker. " Guess what? My grater is also cordless, and guess what else...it's not a fucking problem for my grater either. WTF Score - 9 out of 10 ps - my apologies if you happen to be a professional cheese grater type person with RSI - you may purchase one in good conscience. Posted at 11:46 AM |
